For each of my three pregnancies I took a photo each week to document my beautiful growing belly.  These were just snapshots taken with a point and shoot - sometimes with a timer and the majority of them in my PJ’S!  I still go back to that album and look through them – remembering what a special time it was in my life.  With my first baby when every little change was so significant, with my second where I seemed to put on so much weight for my small frame I looked like I was going to burst and my third when I still looked pretty fabulous by the time I was 39 weeks ( running after two kids and chronic morning sickness seemed to do this!) When Renee called me to book in a maternity and newborn session and stated that she didn’t have one single photo of her belly I had to make sure we took some to document this important stage in her life. Renee was 37 weeks pregnant and postively beautiful and glowing. We decided to do a relaxed lifestyle maternity session in their beautiful home.  I even managed to convince her to get some bare belly shots but I have promised not to show the world here on my blog :)  Renee & Franz – thank-you for having me over on the weekend to document this important part of your life – enjoy your last few weeks as couple and I look forward to meeting you both again soon with your gorgeous new baby

Little Matthew was born on Christmas day – what a wonderful and beautiful present to his parents!  Although I do feel a little sorry for him as he will always have a combined birthday/christmas including presents!  I photographed Matthew when he was around  6 weeks old which is alot older than my usual newborns which are normally captured under 2 weeks of age.  He was such a good boy throughout his session and although it isn’t really  possible to obtain those gorgeous curly newborn shots the ones we did capture are just as beautiful.  His older sister Maisie was a complete little character chatting away and being a princess – like all little girls love to do.  {Thank-you Judith & Neil for having me capture your gorgeous kids -will be in touch soon once your gallery is completed}

    Wow. They’re gorgeous…

Gorgeous baby Oscar came to my home studio for a session this morning. He was such a good boy at 12 days old - probably my best yet – didn’t make a peep and at the end of the session absolutely no washing – now that has to be some kind of record!  Every time a client brings their little bub in I am always amazed how tiny they are  - how quickly I forget that my own babies were just as small.  Love little Oscar – to his tiny little toes to his gorgeous mop of hair – miss him already xx

{Liz – thank-you so much for bringing Oscar in today and I am still amazed how well you are doing – you truly are born to be a mum. Enjoy the photos of your adorable baby boy and will be in touch once your gallery is ready}

    Adorable Lou…love that last shot! Perfect..

The gorgeous curls, the clothes, the location, the absolutely gorgeous light – I was seriously in my element.  A few months back I held a model call for some models who were willing to have a portfolio building session with me as I had some great ideas for a session that I always wanted to do.  Jo who owns the online store www.babyjo.com.au contacted me and organised a session with her beautiful, cheeky and very smart (those super hard words she can say puts my little Jack to shame!) Miss Mia. These photos were taken at one of my favourite local locations – the light is just so beautiful during the summer months around dusk.  We had lots of fun using different areas, props and outfit changes – Mia was such a star throughout it all.  I wanted to do this session to show other potential clients that with a little thought in regards to choosing a location, scheduling the session at the right time clothing choices and use of props you can obtain absolutely gorgeous images of your children. I have so many gorgeous photos from this session but here are just a few of my favourites.

{Jo and Mia – thank-you so much for coming along – hope you had fun and Mia enjoyed her well deserved ice cream on the way home x}

    Louise, as you know I am Mia’s proud mum – and I can’t thank you enough for capturing her beauty and changing looks. Your photographs are stunning and we had so much fun meeting you and spending time with you during this session. Mia has loved seeing her photos on the computer and our family are very proud to see her looking so beautiful. I love your ideas and have passed on your details to many people! Thanks again… Jo

    Oh so sweet, really love the first 4 on the white chair with apple and backlighting. Gorgeous. x

Last night one of my girlfriends Cazz who is also a photographer www.cazzphotography.com.au went to one of our favourite local locations and took some portraits of each other for our websites.  We had heaps of fun while our six boys ran around like crazy and the light at this time of night was just devine as the sun started setting behind the trees – just gorgeous! Very strange being in front of the camera for once (and scary too!LOL) but it was kind of liberating to have someone capture an image of myself for a change. I seriously only have a couple of photos with me in them as I am always the one behind the camera – I feel it is so important for my boys to look back and know that their mummy did exist and was here in this world. I have just started editing a few photos so here is just a couple from last night.  If your a mummy like me that never has a nice photo  I urge you to organise a session with a photographer – it can be so much fun getting dressed up, having a laugh and for once doing something just for you. This location is just beautiful so if you would like to make a booking for either a children’s or family session please contact me soon take advantage of this gorgeous summer light.

    You look absolutely stunning Lou, and your photos are sensational! You should be so proud of yourself, and what you have achieved

OK – I admit it – I may have the most un co-operative children in the world to photograph – every time I get my camera out I am either met with fruit loop antics or little ’sad don’t want to do this’ faces!LOL   Trying to get a 8 and 5 year old to look natural instead of cheesey smiles is SO HARD!!  I think for my own sanity this project may just be every now and then and may attempt this again next year!  I think the best option for my boys is a photo a month – that would suit them perfectly! This photo below cost me lollies today – and  lots of them!

Last night we had pizzas and a movie night with our neighbours who have 3 gorgeous girls.  Miss Alicia loved posing for the camera and had heaps of fun in our backyard.  I adore these shots of her and knew as soon as I took these shots that they would become my new favourites- can you believe she is only 6 – I think this is why I only had boys!  Hopefully I might be able to ‘borrow’ Alicia again for a proper session soon as this age is so great for photos

    Really really beautiful, such gorgeous colours and clarity!

Day 3 – Bath time with my two youngest boys Jack & Coops.  Lachlan is way too bog to fit into the bath with the other two – so showers it is!  Just had a lazy day today – the boys have just been happy playing at home in the backyard on the trampoline and sandpit. Back to work today – have heaps to do!

  1. Sharon Mallin posted the following on January 3, 2010 at 9:43 am.

    I love this – very cute and I love the light too.

  2. Kristy Bradford posted the following on January 3, 2010 at 10:25 am.

    Haha soo cute! I love feet shots.. well of kiddos anyway :)

Day 2 – The boys helped Daddy clean up the shed and garage today - definitely a ‘boys’ only job.  I am finding this project to be quite a challenge as soon as the older two boys see my camera they head for the hills!LOL  Here is Jack – no nappy on of course!

I also had a play with my macro lense – at least flowers don’t mind having their photo taken!  Loving my new camera – the difference it has made is amazing

Every January I try to complete a photo a day of my boys that will eventually be made in a book or album.  These photos are just gorgeous snapshots of our time together during the holidays – to look back on and to see how much they are grown, the things we did, the fun we had.  The first photo  I must admit is only taken with my Blackberry phone ( my batteries were flat in my professional camera!) as we drove back from a  Barwon Heads camping trip with friends. We had such a great time and watching the fireworks with all three boys (yes Jack DID stay up and party!) was such a fantastic experience – the boys just loved it!  Obviously staying up that late took it’s toll – here’s Cooper and Jack fast asleep in the car!
